WEEKEND SCENES

A few snaps from my weekend... Friday my friend Jess and I set out to do some just for fun styling and pictures using items from their vintage shop. I'm wearing vintage dress, Forever 21 kimono, and Asos sandals // This weather has been awfully rainy but has made for some interesting, dramatic photos at the beach // (below) cold brew from Buddy Brew in Sarasota might be my new favorite // Needing a refresh from traveling & going into the last half of 2015 (sad) so I've been updating and rearranging, starting with my studio // These painted signs were for a wedding I shot on Saturday in Ybor City "real" photos to come // I shot photos for friends blog yesterday. They plan to launch this week and I'm stoked to share more on that soon.

Hoping you have a productive Monday, all this rain is making me tired!

CUTE INSTAGRAM MINI BOOKS

Thanks to chapbooks for this adorable book of my instagram photos.  I was pleasantly surprised by the paper quality and love how the date and geo tag is printed above the photos.  Super cute.  This prompts me to make more, something I've been wanting to do for awhile.

Chatbooks is offering your first book for FREE! Use my code "shann932" to order.

HAPPY FRIDAY + SOME LINKS

Whooo TGIF!
I'm shooting at the beach today and have a wedding to shoot tomorrow, I'm pretty excited. Also looking forward to relaxing with my family on Sunday for Mother's day.

Here are a few things I enjoyed around the web this week:

*This Mara Hoffman swimsuit is everything
*pink sandals seem necessary for summer
*Fun bags are taunting me lately; this watermelon, sharks, and of course a cat (possible beach bag?). I finally pulled the trigger and got this "bye" one (it sort of represents an inside joke so it just cracks me up)
*Lusting for this embellished maxi, would be pretty for a formal wedding
*My friend made these tangerine mojitos for Cinco de Mayo and they were amazing.
*This DIY lip balm looks easy and cute
*I love every recipe and word that Local Milk posts
*I've become very interested in the National Stationery Show, enjoying Nole's sneak peeks of some vendors showing this year.
*This really fun illustration series on the Jealous Curator

Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

HAPPY FRIDAY + SOME LINKS

Happy Friday!
I'm thankful this week is over as it was a little rough, but always sad to see how fast a week just flies by these days.  How do we make time slow down?

Here are a few things I enjoyed this week from around the web:

* An important topic on Design Sponge about fears, things that scare me
*An article on Garance Dore, turning dream jobs into reality
*This perfect bathroom makeover  with brass details
*This incredible, eclectic home tour on Apartment Therapy
*These mules are too die for, preferably the pink or the dot pattern
*Holyyy key lime pie on a stick, these look even better than the ones in Key West ;)

Enjoy your weekend.  XO

HELLO MARCH [ + A ROUND UP ]

I feel this way every month lately, but I still can't believe how fast they go by. How is it already March? I had a great February with some fantastic projects beginning for the summer and fall.  I can't believe it's possible for my work to get more exciting, but somehow it just keeps getting better.  I am so grateful.

Here are a few of the things (and insta snaps) I loved from February:

-Invitations for Ali & Vincent's Burgundy & Blush wedding featured on Every Last Detail
-Featured in Emily Henderson's round up of the best online art resources!
-Speaking of, don't forget to shop my limited edition art prints on Buddy Editions
(aka there are only 50 of each size of my three prints then they are gone!)
-Featured on Style Unveiled's "the best invitations to excite your guests"
-Got to shoot a couple looks for Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific blog while she was in Sarasota. Check out the posts here and here. Soooo fun!
-Featured on MODweddings, such a sweet post.
-I announced on instagram a couple weeks ago that some of my prints will be available in West Elm Florida stores as part of West Elm Local.  So far Palm Beach, Miami Mid-town, Estero, and Orlando. Beyond exciting!
-(photo below) Working on something fun with my best friend and designer, Camilyn Beth

below, some new poppies using acrylic paint.  It's fun to experiment with this medium and dark backgrounds every once in a while. The results are so different but still "me"  :)

And some snaps from Palm Beach...

I feel like the weekend consisted of us just doing a food tour of the city, ha.  By "food tour" I mean cocktails as well, obviously.  Spending time at the Breakers is always my favorite.  Hanging out and having appetizers at the Seafood Bar never disappoints.  A couple places that opened since my last trip, The Bee and The Alchemist, were two joints I also greatly enjoyed. The Rabbit coffee and their fresh juices / smoothies...amazing.  Blood orange cocktails and veggie portobello burgers at Alchemist, fabulous.  We had a lovely brunch at Table 26 on Saturday to honor my friend who is expecting her first little girl.  So thankful for my friends and weekends in Palm Beach.  Between great meals and champagne, laughing until I can't breathe, and sharing memories of college times...this is typically how our weekends together go and I am obsessed!

Finally, us popping into West Elm in Palm Beach Gardens, the first West Elm to receive my prints.  We were beyond excited to see the little bio there as well.

Cheers to a wonderful new month, let's make it count.

TREAT PRINTS IN THE SHOP!

A little Monday morning pick-me-up!

A few new prints I added to the shop this weekend. They are available in 8" x 10" and 11" x 14".  I picture these in sets hanging in cute kitchens (that's what I'm doing with mine at least!).  And perfectly sweet gifts for the coffee lover or foodie friend.  xx

HELLO OCTOBER : INSPIRATION

Welcoming October with open arms, it's definitely my favorite month.  The weather cools down and the hustle of the holidays is near.  It it a good transition month and promises of much excitement ahead! I love fall color palettes and entertaining, it's a time to get a little more rustic and dark.  The first photo of the bedroom is my main inspiration for this season, I'm obsessed with that rusty color.  You should probably click the link and view that entire home tour (via because I'm addicted).  It's just beyond.

Happy October!  I think I will finally allow myself to partake in pumpkin spice today!

WEEKEND THINGS

I'm a day late but hope everyone enjoyed their weekend and spending time with family for Fathers Day.  I had friends in town so instead of catching up on work I spent all of Saturday eating good food and shopping around with my favorites. Now for that catching up part... xx

LATELY

A few snaps from the past week or so via my iphone / instagram (follow along @shannonkirsten)

Lots of coffees, spring-y things, and trying to get some cooking in when I have the time.  We started an herb garden recently and I just love going outside to clip them before I start cooking dinner.  I've also been trying to make the perfect iced coffee at home (i.e. rather than starbucks every day).  I haven't quite got it right but I will surely share the recipe when I'm pleased with it! Be back with some fun new projects soon. xo

FESTIVE HOLIDAY FAVORITES

these and more favorites here

A few favorite holiday pins from the past couple weeks.  Some of these images are so cozy and make me excited for cooler weather to come.  Decorating wise, we kept it simple this year.   I'm loving the geometric ornaments and advent calendars.  I plan to wrap with kraft paper, twine, and a bit of greenery. I love making handmade tags or adding some type of extra special touch on packaging.  Mismatched red plates would be so cute for holidays parties. Also, I haven't baked a bit yet...I need to find something peppermint / chocolate filled and get to work!

BLOGGER HOLIDAY EVENT AT THE OXFORD EXCHANGE

The Oxford Exchange in Tampa is omg amazing.  Sarah, Cami, and I were lucky enough to attend an evening holiday event they planned a couple weeks ago.  We were given a tour along with some history on the building, what an incredible place with it's amazing exposed brick and marble patterned floors.  There are coffee and tea specialists, a delicious sounding breakfast, brunch, and lunch menu, plus a retail shop with carefully selected product lines.  Another plus... you can get married here! Mom and I decided we are going to spend my birthday lunch here next week, I'm really looking forward to going back.

Thanks so much to the Oxford Exchange for having us!
If you are in the area and have yet to check this place out, it's time.

HALLOWEEN WEEKEND SCENES

As usual, a few instagram / iphone snaps from my weekend.  If you haven't already noticed, I LOVE Halloween (holidays in general) so this was definitely a fun weekend!  We dressed up Friday night for a halloween party, I was a witch and Hunter let me paint his face like a crazy skeleton.  Other than the party, we had lots of down time.  I was happy to catch up on some work, finish editing lots photos and get some fall baking in.

I also got new custom blinds installed in my office on Saturday, not a very exciting improvement, but a necessary one.  Now I get to hunt for some awesome new curtains to jazz the windows up.

This week will be spent gearing up for my mom and I's annual art show this Friday and Saturday.  I have lots of new things for the holidays in progress.  I can't wait until my Christmas collection comes back from the printer...more on that soon!

Happy Monday!

HELLO NOVEMBER

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8 / 9

I can't believe today is November 1st.  Even though I'm a bit saddened by how fast this year has gone by, I'm thankful that the last three months of the year are filled with fun holidays, cool weather, and lots of family / friend gatherings.  The above photos make me extra excited for these things, such a warm and cozy vibe.

Happy Friday xox

INSTAGRAMS & IPHONE SNAPS FROM NEW ORLEANS

brunch at our hotel (Hotel Modern) was so delish, we ate there a couple of times

Misc snaps from exploring the city.  We of course went to sucre for macarons, Cafe Du Monde for beignets, shopped Magazine Street, and wondered aimlessly in the French Quarter. It was perfection.

My favorites! After Camilyn Beth's Runway show

The first row of pics above is from CB's fitting the day before the show.  The second is more wondering and brunching.  The last row of photos is from the "Shop your City" day.  We hung out at Hattie Sparks (where my illustrations and Cami's dresses are sold) with Amy of Dallas Wardrobe and Juley of Upperlyne as they hosted a Camilyn Beth trunk show.  It was so good to see everyone and catch up!
And the finale! Cami's show was an absolute success and an amazing experience to be a part of.  So proud!  I have many more "real" photos to edit from the weekend so stay tuned!
