WEEKEND SCENES

I know, a couple days late on sharing some weekend scenes but these little snippets from the weekend made me happy so I decided to compile them anyways.

I've been working on some paintings for my shop (I've posted a few sneak peaks but have some new things as well).  I keep an ongoing list of quotes and words that inspire me, it was time to start lettering some new ones.  I may add a little design to some of these but I always love how simple the black and white look (especially when nicely framed)...

I've been really into painting floraly letters.  I'm excited to share what I have in store for these.  Although, since a few friends asked already I think I will offer a little alphabet poster similar to how the original looks below...

Friday night we went to see some favorite bands play in Tampa (Mickey Avalon, Pepper, Rebelution, and Sublime with Rome).  It was a blast! (instax photo by @influencegirl ).  Although rainy most of the day, it brought cooler weather for the evening outside // Saturday I made the rounds visiting some friends and doing a little shopping of course! I've been wearing my new converse a ton (from the kids section at Nordstrom Rack, ha!). I tried on some of Camilyn Beth's new fall pieces at her studio and fell in love with them all! // Sunday was back in the studio painting and planning shoots.  Little Twiggy always seems to find the best light as she perfectly places herself on my sketches by the window.

Hope you are having lovely week!

WEEKEND NOTES : SNAPSHOTS FROM ORLANDO

A few snaps from this past weekend in Orlando.  We managed to fit a lot of things in and had so much fun exploring.

Friday we arrived and checked into our place, we ended up exchanging our time share which was super comfortable and quiet.  We were a little south, closer to Disney, so most of the things we did required a bit of drive time.  Although Orlando seems really spread out anyways!  We played tourist and walked around Downtown Disney our first night, dining at a lively cuban cafe for dinner.  Then we went to House of Blues where a Guns N' Roses tribute band was performing, it was definitely entertaining! Saturday was more a work day for me with the pop up shop at West Elm (photos to come).  After the event I had an evening engagement shoot at Kraft Azalea Park.  The park was beautiful, filled with huge Oak tress and hanging moss.  I was pleasantly surprised at the location, it was on a lake and the surrounding neighborhood had some serious houses.  We enjoyed driving through and looking at them.  That night we met my friend for dinner at Cask and Larder.  It seems to be a locals favorite.  The menu was super interesting with great cocktails.  I had an earl grey, sage vodka, and lemonade concoction, amazing!  Sunday was our free day so we got up early and head to Winter Park.  I've stayed on Park Ave before for work so I knew we would find a good brunch spot and other fun things to do.  After that, at the advice of my friend, we went to the East End Market which was awesome.  Lots of local makers and food in an indoor market, just super fun to see a community like that.  I of course couldn't resist going to the mall at mellenia since it's my favorite.  In exchange for Hunter shopping with me we went to Medieval Times that night.  I assumed it would be on the cheesier side but it was surprisingly really fun and the food was pretty good (they had a vegetarian option!).  All in all a great little weekend getaway!

WEEKEND SCENES : SOUTH CAROLINA IN PICTURES

We spent Memorial Day weekend (and some) at my grandparents house.  They live in a tiny town in South Carolina where my grandmother grew up.  I love visiting, as it's always relaxing, slow, and quiet there.  No wifi, barely any phone service, the woods, and farm animals. love.  Greenville, South Carolina is only about an hour away, we usually will spend a day there when we go.  Main Street in Greenville is filled with fun little shops and restaurants that we always love visiting.  Although, we seem to return to Tupelo Honey to dine each time because it's just so darn good there.

I take similar photos each time we visit, although depending on the season they always feel different. New plants and flowers in bloom, new baby animals born, a new area in the woods to explore...

I'm having a bit of a hard time jumping back into the week after a long weekend! Although  I've wrapped up a few huge projects this week and last, now I am looking forward to another weekend away in Orlando.  West Elm is hosting me and some other makers at their store on Conroy Road! If you are in the Orlando area please stop by and say hello.  The event is Saturday May 30th from 12pm-4pm.

WEEKEND SCENES : THIS AND THAT

Some scenes from my weekend :
1. painting special projects with Camilyn Beth  // 2. My greeting card collection in progress and another recent crest design // 3. Dinner and drinks at Social in Sarasota on Saturday night // 4. My new "bye" clutch that really makes me laugh and this long sleeve maxi dress from H&M that I could literally wear everyday // 5. My paint palette after a couple weeks, I love how they look // 5.  My gardenias are blooming! I love wrapping presents with something "live" on them, I snipped some leafs for my friends bridal shower gift (which was on Sunday)

This was definitely a packed weekend, one of the first ones in awhile that I didn't have a shoot or wedding though.  It was fun to visit with friends, do a little shopping, eat good food and drink some craft cocktails and beer.  Plus get a little painting and editing done in between.

It will probably be a little quite around here this week, we are going to visit my grandparents tomorrow in South Carolina for several days.  I always love being at their place and never mind a good road trip.  The scenery is so beautiful where they live, I'll surely be posting on instagram while I'm away.  When I return, I'm gearing for a fun event and working hard to finalize my new stationery collection.  Lots to share soon! Have a great week.

WEEKEND SCENES : WINTER PARK

What a crazy month this has been.  I have had a slew of projects, both illustration and photography, that have kept me extremely busy lately (like head spinning, can't keep up with my inbox busy).  It's been great though and I will get to sleep one day. ha.  People always ask me what I like better, painting or photography, it's a question that's nearly impossible for me to answer.  Especially in busy times like the Spring when I have so much wedding related work, I feel having both honestly keeps me more sane.  Almost like they are still creative outlets and not my full time job since I get to switch it up.

I'm definitely ending April on a high note with the weekend that just passed.  I went out of town Thursday to photograph a wedding in Winter Park on Friday (Orlando, Florida).  I had been in communication with the bride for over a year so it was so much fun to finally see all the planning come together and celebrate with them. I also created their invitations and stationery (which I will share here soon).  My mom came with me so of course we did a bit of shopping upon our arrival.  We stayed at the Park Plaza Hotel and it was amazing.  The perfect location to walk and explore all the surrounding cuteness.  Before heading home on Saturday we went to the farmers market and breakfast, where most of the above photos are from.  We also got to pop in to the West Elm by Mall at Millenia to see my prints there!

I came home to a beach day with family for Hunters birthday.  We watched the sunset and went to one of our favorite spots for dinner and drinks.

Now to hop in to Monday and paint away!
