I'm looking forward to a busy weekend ahead.  Most of my weekend will be spent organizing, doing some cleaning out, and getting my shop all restocked and in order for October approaching.  Once October hits theres noooo going back! It always seems like endless excitement, events, and orders as the holidays draw near.  I am so looking forward to this time of year.

*Just loving the colors and textures in this photo
*A beautiful bouquet to serve as painting inspiration!
*An inspiring, artful Wes Anderson inspired wedding
*These fringe boots are ridiculously cute and a good price

HELLO OCTOBER : INSPIRATION

Welcoming October with open arms, it's definitely my favorite month.  The weather cools down and the hustle of the holidays is near.  It it a good transition month and promises of much excitement ahead! I love fall color palettes and entertaining, it's a time to get a little more rustic and dark.  The first photo of the bedroom is my main inspiration for this season, I'm obsessed with that rusty color.  You should probably click the link and view that entire home tour (via because I'm addicted).  It's just beyond.

Happy October!  I think I will finally allow myself to partake in pumpkin spice today!

INSPIRED BY

...these neutral colors and interesting textures.  This palette inspires me so much that I dedicated a board to some creamy, natural images (link above).

May has flown by and I haven't blogged much lately.  We've had some personal things going on that have left me a little uninspired.  Plus with traveling for work I can't seem to feel caught up.  I guess everyone goes through this once in awhile.  I'm trying to find new ways to get inspired, look beyond my normal sources of inspiration, and experiment with new techniques.  What are some ways you get your groove back when you feel it's long gone?  I'll be pinteresting hard core this weekend, finding new things and artists online, a fresh perspective, usually helps me. Be back to normal with some new works soon. xox

LATELY

A few snaps from the past week or so via my iphone / instagram (follow along @shannonkirsten)

Lots of coffees, spring-y things, and trying to get some cooking in when I have the time.  We started an herb garden recently and I just love going outside to clip them before I start cooking dinner.  I've also been trying to make the perfect iced coffee at home (i.e. rather than starbucks every day).  I haven't quite got it right but I will surely share the recipe when I'm pleased with it! Be back with some fun new projects soon. xo

INSPIRED BY: CREAMY TEXTURES

images found here, along with more neutral textured inspiration

A bit of inspiration for the week.  I've been so inspired by neutrals lately.  To the point where I spent some time cleaning up my Pinterest this week and dedicating a few new boards to "natural" colors and elements.  I'm looking forward to directing these ideas into new projects sometime soon.  As for now, I'm just trying to stay up on e-mails, calligraphy, and creating a spring line of prints and cards! Exciting!

Hope everyone is having a lovely week! Stay tuned for some new work posting soon. xox

PAINTED INSPIRATION

I am so inspired by these paintings, they are just so interesting.  I totally thought they were photos the first time I came across Amy Judd's work.  I also love that the color palette is very soft and neutral.  Amazing!

BEHIND THE BRAND

images:
1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6 / 7 / 8

As I've been fine tuning my brand (s) lately, I started a private board on Pinterest, just for me, to organize my inspirations and thoughts.  I have been extremely selective in pinning things that really speak to me, things that have a mood to suit me, and only colors I want to use in my design and packaging.  This is one reason I truly love Pinterest, it's been so helpful to refer to while designing and choosing colors, etc.  I am a completely visual person (go figure) so I can't even tell you how great this resource is to me.

Sometimes we don't really know why images speak to us...but I think that's fine as long as they are making us feel something. And that's what has happened (to me) so far.  I'm proud of myself for being patient and thoughtful about this process (cue New Year's resolutions).  I am excited for all of the new things I have to offer in the coming months (design and photography wise).  I hope you'll continue to follow along and always feel free to share comments and suggestions.

Happy weekend!  xx
