LATELY : SOME WORKS IN PROGRESS

Hello! I have been slow to catch up on the blog this month but I have some sort of okay excuses:

Client work has been at it's busiest as I work with brides for spring weddings. I've got some stylish, design loving gals right now and I couldn't be more excited about making their wedding stationery visions come to life. Plus a few other interesting client projects I'll be sharing soon.

I am also finalizing the last bit of designs I will be showing at NSS in May.  I am so excited to get everything I've been working on to the printer and see the final products.  The above photos are some greeting cards in progress. Then the fun part of shooting a wholesale catalog is one of the biggest things I have left to do.  This will be fun for me to style, play with flowers, and shoot myself. Can't wait to share some sneaks when that gets underway next month.

AND I decided to move my business out the house (finally!) and into my first official studio space. The last photo is from painting the walls in the new space this past weekend and a little sliver of my view of our downtown area.  I seriously can't believe this is happening.  We have some more work to do before I can officially move in (ya know, since I wanted everything to be all white. lol).  So many mixed emotions about this next step.  Growing is scary but I am so thankful it's happening.

You guys are wonderful, all the nice words on social media about my Hallmark collab was overwhelming.  Big thanks and XO's.

MID-WEEK RAMBLINGS // LATELY IN THE STUDIO

Hello! Just popping in to share a few favorite snaps of some work in progress from this past week.  The above photo seemed to be a hit on instagram. I loved all the nice comments about me switching it up a bit (with my color palette). YES, I will offer this as a print as soon as I have a free moment to clean it up and get a test print made to make sure it looks great before I offer to y'all. I never, ever use orange and yellow. Not because I hate them, I'm just not drawn them I guess. I don't wear these hues much / don't like how they look on me so maybe that's why? Anyways, I am challenging myself to introduce some new color combos into my life (all aspects of it) this year...

I've also been really into old folk art lately and have been researching various European styles.  I'm not really trying to create an accurate depiction of it, but I like to feel inspired by different types of art and then just make it my own. Hence, the above and below photos. This stool has been around for years and I just randomly did this to it last week, ha.  I'm liking it so much that I am painting part of my spring collection in this style.  I can't wait to share what I'm working as spring and the National Stationery Show get closer!

A few snippets from my desk and deciding what to turn these guys into...

Finally, my painting area after a long week.  It's not cute but it's necessary to my productivity. I like being able to leave everything out as sometimes I need to go back and forth from here to my computer. Coffee, a million paints, tiny brushes... ya know, all the essentials for surviving around here. haha.

Hope you all are having a lovely week. It's raining today but Florida is finally experiencing our tiny spurt of winter. Not complaining about putting my favorite sweaters and boots to use that I never get to wear!

XOXO

Halloween weekend is here, yay!
Do you still dress up?
It's my favorite. Hunter is always a good sport and will dress up with me, so that makes it more fun! His parents started having an annual party a few years back, so looking forward to that.  It is also the weekend we met four years ago! Man time flies. We will be celebrating at our favorite restaurant tonight.

*DIY gold leaf pumpkins via Free People
*Halloween wedding inspiration via Green Wedding Shoes
*A fall colored bouquet, painting / color inspiration!
*Love these crazy but pretty Halloween makeup ideas
*I think this is my favorite couples costume I've seen on Pinterest
*Beautiful fall decor // fireplace with pumpkins

And a few non-Halloween:
*Ted Baker floral luggage, come home to me!
*Love the colors and composition of this photo, more painting / palette inspo!
*Gucci S/S '16 is still KILLING me, all those sheer pastels and ruffles

RECENT WORK: A CREST WITH MUTED FLORALS

Another pretty crest design with a muted color palette.  Loved the floral inspiration I received for this and the addition of the barn illustration (where this couple will get married) is the little cherry on top!

PAINTED: BOLD FLORALS ON BLACK

I have been adding to my collection of big bold flowers on black, these are my favorite to paint! I go in phases of loving greyscale but I'll never be able to resist creating such colorful, bright florals.  I'm so drawn to the way they pop on the black. I have sent these three to the printer and they will be listed in the shop as soon as I receive them (and approve that they are beautiful enough for your walls!)

HAPPY FRIDAY + SOME LINKS

Happy Friday my friends!
Hope your short week was great.  It's funny because I definitely enjoyed the extra day off this week but then fitting everything into a four days is just a little too much scrambling! I'm looking forward to a busy weekend ahead.  Most of my weekend will be spent organizing, doing some cleaning out, and getting my shop all restocked and in order for October approaching.  Once October hits theres noooo going back! It always seems like endless excitement, events, and orders as the holidays draw near.  I am so looking forward to this time of year.

As always a few favorites from the week:
*Just loving the colors and textures in this photo
*A beautiful bouquet to serve as painting inspiration!
*An inspiring, artful Wes Anderson inspired wedding
*These fringe boots are ridiculously cute and a good price

There are six new ones all together and I plan to keep adding more soon (like all the sneak peeks on instagram).  I've been vigorously painting every single day to expand my line, finalize the holiday collection, and just have way more card options that hopefully you guys will love.

HAPPY LONG WEEKEND

Thank goodness for Friday. I hope you all enjoy this long weekend, I know I'm looking forward to relaxing and maybe working on some fun personal projects.  I've been paining so many new things lately, things that just inspire me and that I've been wanting to try.  I plan to start adding some to the shop soon, like this cacti and some of the other florals I've posted on instagram. I found some vintage botanical books at an estate sale last week and have been using them for inspiration!

Happy Labor day weekend!

SKETCHBOOK 07 // FLORAL GIRL

Scenes from my sketchbook this past week.  I don't consider portraits / drawing people one of my stronger suits but it's fun to experiment every once in while. That's what sketchbooks are for right?!
The fun fact here is that fashion illustration is where I really learned to sketch with technique and proportion.  I always loved that class in art school.  Drawing dresses on figures was always my favorite.  I had fun painting this gal after I sketched her out, I'll be adding her to the shop as a print soon.

SKETCHBOOK // FLORAL LETTERS

Playing around with some floral letters lately.  I love the ampersand! I think I will add more and make some fun words for greeting cards. Hope y'all are having a lovely week. This summer is just flying by  :'(

RECENT WORK : ASHLEY + JOSH'S WINTER PARK FARMERS MARKET WEDDING

These are a few photos from a beautiful wedding I had the pleasure of photographing and painting for this past spring.  The wedding was at the Winter Park Farmers Market, I loved this venue and the surrounding area in downtown Winter Park.  Seriously perfect!  I created the invitation suite, cocktail signs, cookie table signs, and table numbers all using watercolor.  The seating chart was made from a piece of wood purchased at home depot and hand painted with acrylic paint.  Hop over to my photography site to see more photos from Ashley + Josh's day...

BOTANICAL PRINTS // IN PROGRESS

I have been working on some simple black and white botanical prints.  I love this style so much and plan to do a little collection of these.  Even though I use lots of random colors in my work, greyscale always has my heart.  Painted using gouache / watercolor with a teeny tiny brush.

LATELY : STUDIO SNAPS

A few snaps of a project I worked on before I left for my trip.  These were for a photoshoot and I'm dying to see the photos!  The dusty blue and lavender combo has really been getting to me lately.  I'm obsessed. Can't wait to share more of this suite soon.

RECENT WORK : CHATEAU LA DURANTIE WEDDING

I thought this beautiful wedding would be the perfect post to get me back into blogging after my summer vacation.  Stephanie & Mario got married in France this Spring and I had the pleasure of creating stationery for the day.  It was all captured so perfectly by Rory Wylie Photography.  French Wedding Styled featured us on their blog this past week, view the whole post here

I have so much to catch up on here.  Lots of fun projects from early Summer, some new exciting collaborations in the mix, AND my travel photos from Iceland (which I cannot wait to go through and edit).  I'm jumping right back into wedding festivities with my friends nuptials this weekend.  I'll be sure to share their pretty stationery soon as well.

Happy Friday!
