PAINTED: BOLD FLORALS ON BLACK

I have been adding to my collection of big bold flowers on black, these are my favorite to paint! I go in phases of loving greyscale but I'll never be able to resist creating such colorful, bright florals.  I'm so drawn to the way they pop on the black. I have sent these three to the printer and they will be listed in the shop as soon as I receive them (and approve that they are beautiful enough for your walls!)

Whooo TGIF! 

I'm shooting at the beach today and have a wedding to shoot tomorrow, I'm pretty excited. Also looking forward to relaxing with my family on Sunday for Mother's day. 

Here are a few things I enjoyed around the web this week:

*pink sandals seem necessary for summer 

*Fun bags are taunting me lately; this watermelon, sharks, and of course a cat (possible beach bag?). I finally pulled the trigger and got this "bye" one (it sort of represents an inside joke so it just cracks me up)
*Lusting for this embellished maxi, would be pretty for a formal wedding
*My friend made these tangerine mojitos for Cinco de Mayo and they were amazing.

IN PROGRESS : POPPY PRINTS

If you've been following my work then you'll know about my affinity for poppies.  I often paint them but have yet to turn too many into actual prints offered in the shop.  I decided to start on a little series recently with varying colors.  This is the first of the poppies, painted all with gouache paint.

HAND PAINTED FLORAL GIFT TAGS

A little last minute Christmas project.  I was playing around with some painted poppies the other night when I messed one up and decided to cut it off of my page (don't ask me why?) ha.  Then I thought, how cute would my little painted florals be as gift tags (or even place cards) to top on presents or tie around a bag of baked goods?! Tada! They obviously don't have to be perfect, even some paint splotches or a stroke of color with hand written names would be a darling addition to any gift.  Hope you can use these (and my last post) as inspiration for wrapping the rest of your gifts this weekend. Painting is supposed to be fun, there are no rules or the "right" tools, seriously.  Practice and playing is the way to find what works for you, just have fun with it!   xx 

NEW POPPY NOTEPADS IN THE SHOP (& MORE SOON!)

My photo of this design on instagram seemed to be a hit, so I've listed these fun notepads in the shop!  I've ordered printing samples of a lot of the floral photos I post over there… more notepads, new prints, and greeting card sets! I'm really thrilled to have found some down time last month to work on things I've really been wanted to do (aka more products and stationery).  It's easy to keep wrapped up custom orders, but the dream has always been to have a product line.  All good things take time, right?  Check back for more flower power soon.  xox

STUDIO SNAPS : WATERCOLORS IN PROGRESS

I've been painting flowers and wreaths like crazy for the past couple weeks.  I've also enjoyed using just black / grey to create some greyscale florals.  My hope is that most of these will turn into new prints, cards, and other fun paper products…trying to get stocked for the upcoming holidays!  I can't wait to have some new things to offer in my shop soon.  xo

I've been having a good time experimenting with different types of floral paintings lately.  If you follow on instagram (@shannonkirsten) you've seen several sneak peeks by now.  I am looking forward to turning these into prints (& other products) for the shop.
