HELLO FEBRUARY : A DESKTOP DOWNLOAD

Helloooo February! How did we just let January fly by like that?! It's crazy.
I am in full blown production mode for NSS 2016 and also tending to custom wedding suites for Spring.  Lots of pretty to share soon!

And...

I'm so excited to start offering a monthly desktop /iphone download. I've always loved this idea but had a hard time committing in the past. I paint lots of little extra florals for various projects and some never get used for anything, I thought I would start turning them into fun freebies when I have the time.  I vow to try my hardest to get them up a the first of every month!

Hope you enjoy!
XO

The not so fun stuff: These designs are copyright of Shannon Kirsten Studio and are for personal use ONLY.  Not for re-sale. Please be respectful when downloading and sharing.

A FLORAL PRINT FOR PLUM PRETTY SUGAR X BHLDN

I'm just over the moon about this floral print created for Plum Pretty Sugar x BHLDN's gorgeous robe collection.  Some of you may recognize the print from my 'dusty blue florals'.  I turned it into a repeating pattern and added this soft yellow background.  This is the first time I've seen my paintings on fabric and I'm just in love (and hopefully not the last time!).

You can shop this robe right here

HAPPY FRIDAY + SOME LINKS

Happy Friday y'all!  This has been a week filled with wedding projects and wrapping up some 'day of' decor for my fall brides.  I've also started on holiday items, I'm quite excited about them.  Even though I'm technically behind in stationery world, this is the most ahead I've been since adding greeting cards to my collection last year. It feels weird to even think of Christmas right now! It has certainly pushed my creative limits lately since I was so far from being in holiday mode.  A challenge is always welcomed though.  Stay tuned for some exciting news and more Iceland photos after the weekend!

As usual, some favorites:

*Fashion buyers picks for Fall via The Coveteur - swoooning!
*Frida Kahlo at the NY Botanical Gardens, looks so pretty! I'm hoping to make it when I'm there in October.
*These are looking like the perfect black flats for fall
*This picture, because... [heart eye emoji]
*Lace Free People dress, so beautiful and comes in four colors. The green would be a perfect holiday party dress
*This Valentino floral print is beyond gorgeous, one can dream...
*Free Peoples boudoir lookbook shot by Harper Smith, dreamy

XOXO

WEEKEND NOTES : HOME

Can someone please explain why it feels like Monday again today? I'm tired.
I didn't do much this weekend besides try to relax, clean up the house, and sketched a TON for upcoming projects (that I can't wait to share).  I also added a few new prints to the shop including these fun florals, a couple easter cards, and the colorful poppies!

SKETCHBOOK 04 : BLACK & WHITE FLORALS

I really love doing these full floral prints and experimenting with only black paint.  The lines make it look so different than painting more whimsical with full color.  All of this was done with gouache paint and tiny paint brush (none in particular, I just look for tiny with sturdy bristles).

I will definitely be adding these to the shop this month and maybe experimenting with some additional color ways!

SKETCHBOOK 03 : FLORAL PATTERNS

I got a little into this one and didn't take as many photos as intended, but still fun to see a sketch start from nothing to a bright, whimsical pattern.  This was a hit on instagram when I posted it this week so I will surely get it up in the shop soon.

This was all painted with my favorite gouache paints.  I don't use a particular paint brush, I just like shorter, slim tips.  Really there is no rhyme or reason to choosing a brush for me, I experiment with lots of different kinds and just lean towards tiny ones to get good details.

SKETCHBOOK 02 : FLORAL PATTERN

Happy Friday!
Another little page from my sketchbook of this fun floral print.  With something like this where I want to (somewhat) evenly space my elements, I will always start with a sketch.  Like last time, my greenery always come first.  For this, I just did each color randomly through out and kept filling in with different shades.  Once I finished this one it went up on the wall for color inspiration for some matching spring items.  As always, I'm posting these types of "in progress" shots on instgram quite often, @shannonkirsten

Hope you have a lovely weekend. xx

FLORAL OVERALLS ARE MY FAVE

I'm sure some people are pretty terrified that the overall trend has resurfaced.  But not me.  I remember loving my denim overalls so much as a kid, I wanted to wear them all the time.  I was obsessed with rompers (and still am) when they started becoming popular.  And now that overalls have made their comeback, I'm going proudly wear them once again.  I haven't found the perfect denim pair but I snatched up this cute and comfortable floral print from Forever 21 last week.  At a whooping $25 who could resist?

WEEKEND WEAR // PRINTED PANTS

1 / 2 / 3 / 4 /

THESE PANTS. They might be the best silhouette and pattern I've ever seen.  I'm loving the crop top trend with a little high waisted something...so good.

happy weekend folks. xx

STYLE : FLOWERS & CUT OUTS

top (lucca couture) & sunglasses: urban outfitters / pants & belt: forever 21 / shoes: dolce vita / rings: vintage / iPhone case: sk illustration

A few photos from location scouting and shooting freestyle with Cami.  I haven't taken these gold sandals off since I got them, I love.  I have also grown pretty found of cut outs and florals (as usual) for summer.

WISHLISTED : FLORAL PRINTS

Happy first day day of Spring!
It's officially time to go crazy and buy everything in floral prints.
I even threw in something for the guys...my dude wouldn't wear a floral tie but a girl can dream, right? I'm pretty sure that one piece from Anthropologie will come home to me eventually.

Happy picking!
