LATELY : SOME WORKS IN PROGRESS

Hello! I have been slow to catch up on the blog this month but I have some sort of okay excuses:

Client work has been at it's busiest as I work with brides for spring weddings. I've got some stylish, design loving gals right now and I couldn't be more excited about making their wedding stationery visions come to life. Plus a few other interesting client projects I'll be sharing soon.

I am also finalizing the last bit of designs I will be showing at NSS in May.  I am so excited to get everything I've been working on to the printer and see the final products.  The above photos are some greeting cards in progress. Then the fun part of shooting a wholesale catalog is one of the biggest things I have left to do.  This will be fun for me to style, play with flowers, and shoot myself. Can't wait to share some sneaks when that gets underway next month.

AND I decided to move my business out the house (finally!) and into my first official studio space. The last photo is from painting the walls in the new space this past weekend and a little sliver of my view of our downtown area.  I seriously can't believe this is happening.  We have some more work to do before I can officially move in (ya know, since I wanted everything to be all white. lol).  So many mixed emotions about this next step.  Growing is scary but I am so thankful it's happening.

You guys are wonderful, all the nice words on social media about my Hallmark collab was overwhelming.  Big thanks and XO's.

COLOR OF THE YEAR INSPIRED : ROSE QUARTZ & SERENITY

images and more color of the year inspiration found on my boards here and here

I thought the best way to kick off my blog posts for 2016 was to start with the inspiring and calming colors of the year.  Dusty pastel shades are my favorites so I am absolutely loving the rose quartz and serenity combo.  The could't have named the blue shade better as it reminds me of a calm, serene day by the ocean in my hometown.  I will be looking forward to client requests for these shades and to see how they are incorporate into wedding palettes and other projects.

Can't wait to bring a some fresh posts, projects, and updates to the blog this year.  Feeling all kinds of inspired.  I hope your new year is off to a wonderful start!

A FLORAL PRINT FOR PLUM PRETTY SUGAR X BHLDN

I'm just over the moon about this floral print created for Plum Pretty Sugar x BHLDN's gorgeous robe collection.  Some of you may recognize the print from my 'dusty blue florals'.  I turned it into a repeating pattern and added this soft yellow background.  This is the first time I've seen my paintings on fabric and I'm just in love (and hopefully not the last time!).

You can shop this robe right here

HAPPY LONG WEEKEND

Thank goodness for Friday. I hope you all enjoy this long weekend, I know I'm looking forward to relaxing and maybe working on some fun personal projects.  I've been paining so many new things lately, things that just inspire me and that I've been wanting to try.  I plan to start adding some to the shop soon, like this cacti and some of the other florals I've posted on instagram. I found some vintage botanical books at an estate sale last week and have been using them for inspiration!

Happy Labor day weekend!

SKETCHBOOK 03 : FLORAL PATTERNS

I got a little into this one and didn't take as many photos as intended, but still fun to see a sketch start from nothing to a bright, whimsical pattern.  This was a hit on instagram when I posted it this week so I will surely get it up in the shop soon.

This was all painted with my favorite gouache paints.  I don't use a particular paint brush, I just like shorter, slim tips.  Really there is no rhyme or reason to choosing a brush for me, I experiment with lots of different kinds and just lean towards tiny ones to get good details.

SKETCHBOOK 02 : FLORAL PATTERN

Happy Friday!
Another little page from my sketchbook of this fun floral print.  With something like this where I want to (somewhat) evenly space my elements, I will always start with a sketch.  Like last time, my greenery always come first.  For this, I just did each color randomly through out and kept filling in with different shades.  Once I finished this one it went up on the wall for color inspiration for some matching spring items.  As always, I'm posting these types of "in progress" shots on instgram quite often, @shannonkirsten

Hope you have a lovely weekend. xx
