WEEKEND SCENES

A few snaps from my weekend... Friday my friend Jess and I set out to do some just for fun styling and pictures using items from their vintage shop. I'm wearing vintage dress, Forever 21 kimono, and Asos sandals // This weather has been awfully rainy but has made for some interesting, dramatic photos at the beach // (below) cold brew from Buddy Brew in Sarasota might be my new favorite // Needing a refresh from traveling & going into the last half of 2015 (sad) so I've been updating and rearranging, starting with my studio // These painted signs were for a wedding I shot on Saturday in Ybor City "real" photos to come // I shot photos for friends blog yesterday. They plan to launch this week and I'm stoked to share more on that soon.

Hoping you have a productive Monday, all this rain is making me tired!

POP UP SHOP WITH WEST ELM

It was such a treat to spend this past weekend in Orlando mixing in a little work with play!  West Elm hosted a pop up shop with me and several other local makers.  It's been a great experience being a part of West Elm Local.  I was asked to join at the beginning of 2015 and am so far in the stores in Orlando, Estero, and both Miami locations!  It was fun to finally meet some other creatives at this event.  I love that West Elm is encouraging and promoting us independents.

The first photo is the WE Local display that is always up in the store, it features the products that WE offers from all their local artists plus a short bio about us.  This weekend everyone brought additional products and we set up using tables and pretty props from the store.

All the prints and cards shown in the photos are now available on my etsy

WEEKEND NOTES : SNAPSHOTS FROM ORLANDO

A few snaps from this past weekend in Orlando.  We managed to fit a lot of things in and had so much fun exploring.

Friday we arrived and checked into our place, we ended up exchanging our time share which was super comfortable and quiet.  We were a little south, closer to Disney, so most of the things we did required a bit of drive time.  Although Orlando seems really spread out anyways!  We played tourist and walked around Downtown Disney our first night, dining at a lively cuban cafe for dinner.  Then we went to House of Blues where a Guns N' Roses tribute band was performing, it was definitely entertaining! Saturday was more a work day for me with the pop up shop at West Elm (photos to come).  After the event I had an evening engagement shoot at Kraft Azalea Park.  The park was beautiful, filled with huge Oak tress and hanging moss.  I was pleasantly surprised at the location, it was on a lake and the surrounding neighborhood had some serious houses.  We enjoyed driving through and looking at them.  That night we met my friend for dinner at Cask and Larder.  It seems to be a locals favorite.  The menu was super interesting with great cocktails.  I had an earl grey, sage vodka, and lemonade concoction, amazing!  Sunday was our free day so we got up early and head to Winter Park.  I've stayed on Park Ave before for work so I knew we would find a good brunch spot and other fun things to do.  After that, at the advice of my friend, we went to the East End Market which was awesome.  Lots of local makers and food in an indoor market, just super fun to see a community like that.  I of course couldn't resist going to the mall at mellenia since it's my favorite.  In exchange for Hunter shopping with me we went to Medieval Times that night.  I assumed it would be on the cheesier side but it was surprisingly really fun and the food was pretty good (they had a vegetarian option!).  All in all a great little weekend getaway!

WEEKEND SCENES : WINTER PARK

What a crazy month this has been.  I have had a slew of projects, both illustration and photography, that have kept me extremely busy lately (like head spinning, can't keep up with my inbox busy).  It's been great though and I will get to sleep one day. ha.  People always ask me what I like better, painting or photography, it's a question that's nearly impossible for me to answer.  Especially in busy times like the Spring when I have so much wedding related work, I feel having both honestly keeps me more sane.  Almost like they are still creative outlets and not my full time job since I get to switch it up.

I'm definitely ending April on a high note with the weekend that just passed.  I went out of town Thursday to photograph a wedding in Winter Park on Friday (Orlando, Florida).  I had been in communication with the bride for over a year so it was so much fun to finally see all the planning come together and celebrate with them. I also created their invitations and stationery (which I will share here soon).  My mom came with me so of course we did a bit of shopping upon our arrival.  We stayed at the Park Plaza Hotel and it was amazing.  The perfect location to walk and explore all the surrounding cuteness.  Before heading home on Saturday we went to the farmers market and breakfast, where most of the above photos are from.  We also got to pop in to the West Elm by Mall at Millenia to see my prints there!

I came home to a beach day with family for Hunters birthday.  We watched the sunset and went to one of our favorite spots for dinner and drinks.

Now to hop in to Monday and paint away!

WEEKEND NOTES : BEACH DAYS

Spring has turned out to be quite lovely so far here in Florida.  We enjoyed a beautiful weekend mostly outside with good friends, cocktails, and our local seafood festival.

HELLO MARCH [ + A ROUND UP ]

I feel this way every month lately, but I still can't believe how fast they go by. How is it already March? I had a great February with some fantastic projects beginning for the summer and fall.  I can't believe it's possible for my work to get more exciting, but somehow it just keeps getting better.  I am so grateful.

Here are a few of the things (and insta snaps) I loved from February:

-Invitations for Ali & Vincent's Burgundy & Blush wedding featured on Every Last Detail
-Featured in Emily Henderson's round up of the best online art resources!
-Speaking of, don't forget to shop my limited edition art prints on Buddy Editions
(aka there are only 50 of each size of my three prints then they are gone!)
-Featured on Style Unveiled's "the best invitations to excite your guests"
-Got to shoot a couple looks for Blair Eadie of Atlantic-Pacific blog while she was in Sarasota. Check out the posts here and here. Soooo fun!
-Featured on MODweddings, such a sweet post.
-I announced on instagram a couple weeks ago that some of my prints will be available in West Elm Florida stores as part of West Elm Local.  So far Palm Beach, Miami Mid-town, Estero, and Orlando. Beyond exciting!
-(photo below) Working on something fun with my best friend and designer, Camilyn Beth

below, some new poppies using acrylic paint.  It's fun to experiment with this medium and dark backgrounds every once in a while. The results are so different but still "me"  :)

And some snaps from Palm Beach...

I feel like the weekend consisted of us just doing a food tour of the city, ha.  By "food tour" I mean cocktails as well, obviously.  Spending time at the Breakers is always my favorite.  Hanging out and having appetizers at the Seafood Bar never disappoints.  A couple places that opened since my last trip, The Bee and The Alchemist, were two joints I also greatly enjoyed. The Rabbit coffee and their fresh juices / smoothies...amazing.  Blood orange cocktails and veggie portobello burgers at Alchemist, fabulous.  We had a lovely brunch at Table 26 on Saturday to honor my friend who is expecting her first little girl.  So thankful for my friends and weekends in Palm Beach.  Between great meals and champagne, laughing until I can't breathe, and sharing memories of college times...this is typically how our weekends together go and I am obsessed!

Finally, us popping into West Elm in Palm Beach Gardens, the first West Elm to receive my prints.  We were beyond excited to see the little bio there as well.

Cheers to a wonderful new month, let's make it count.
