RECENT WORK: A CREST WITH MUTED FLORALS

Another pretty crest design with a muted color palette.  Loved the floral inspiration I received for this and the addition of the barn illustration (where this couple will get married) is the little cherry on top!

RECENT WORK : A HAPPY CREST FOR A NURSERY

The colors of this bright, happy crest have to be some of my favorite so far.  This was created for Summer of Grey Likes, to print large scale in her baby girls nursery. LOVE! We based the idea off of the crest that was originally designed for her wedding by Mae Mae & Co.  We used the same animals and crest shape with the addition of my bright florals and their family motto.
She's just the sweetest and this was so much fun to work on!

RECENT WORK : COLORFUL CREST WITH FLORALS AND A BULLDOG

Making a crest is always so much fun. This one was nothing short of the usual bright, fun, floraly style my clients request.  The first photo is the one we decided on for the final artwork.  The last one was one of the first proofs, I always like to design the crest with different layout and lettering options for my clients to choose from.  There's so much you can do with these and I love seeing how couples incorporate them into their design and decor.

You can shop custom crests in my Etsy shop and view more examples of them in my portfolio

Have a bright week!

A BRIGHT, BOLD CREST

Making crests are so much fun, a process, but fun none the less.  You can see here how my scatterbrained sketches turn into the final product.  I like to see how my mess of florals, initials, and lettering comes together so nicely in the end.  I worked with Amy to create something bright and colorful, something that would reflect their wedding day and personal style.  We ended up with a more simple save the date as well. I love to see how people end up incorporating their crests into their wedding design.  So great! xx

RECENT WORK : A QUIRKY CREST DESIGN

The final design above and a bit of my process below...

I was absolutely delighted when wedding planner, Emily Starr got in touch to create this really fun crest design for her clients upcoming wedding.  When I saw the color palette and was asked about including these animals, I knew this project was meant for me!  The pig and the deer have significant meaning relating to the bride's last name and the grooms actual family crest. I just did the designing and gave them to file, they plan to print on various day of paper goods and I can't wait to see!

I used all watercolor / gouache paint for this design.  As you can see, there is no such method to my madness (unfortunately).  Sometimes it's just easier for me to paint larger (I feel I can paint with more detail that way) then scale everything down and piece it together once I scan.  I use Photoshop to put the elements together.  Hey, it's whatever works!

I love seeing the ways people use crests, monograms, heraldry these days.  It doesn't have to be just for your wedding! You could have a fun painting with meaningful icons created for you and your family to display as art.  The best part, it doesn't have to be like actual traditional heraldry... you can pick elements and colors that reflect you best.
